In the early 1990s, the band “Death” emerged onto the metal scene. With their extreme way of playing and their unique style, they made sure that people heard them. Having a style which is very akin to the classic Death Metal sound, but with modern touches to keep fans on their toes, they ended up being one of the first bands of their kind to achieve any sort of mainstream following.

Taking note of Death’s success, younger groups began to build on that style in order to reach out to masses of people who might never have been privy to extreme metal before.
